To create the “farmhouse” feel, we designed a sloped rafter ceiling and used vertical timber batons to add height to a large, central space and to give it a somewhat rustic interior finish. A folded metal roof follows the same crisp lines of the batons. The design is a beautiful combination of the rustic feel from the exposed timber rafters with clean lines that modernise the look.
This inviting central space creates the ideal entertaining zone that the owners requested, envisioning lots of get-togethers with friends in their new home. The open-plan interior extends out onto a north-west facing deck that overlooks the stunning native bush.
We designed the layout of this home to make the most of the sun and the view. With all of our homes, we consider your journey as you arrive and enter the house. Here, as you come from the driveway, you enter a welcoming courtyard that leads you to the front door. As you enter the house, one of the first things you see is a large picture window that allows you to see right through to the outlook on the other side of the house. You get a peek of the fantastic view from the deck.
Entering the house, you come upon a cosy entrance nook on the right-hand side with bench seating for casual dining or just hanging out. To the left is the large open-plan kitchen/dining/living area that opens out onto the north-west facing deck. Vertical fins and timber batons help to break up the space somewhat, without solid dividers or walls, letting the sun in throughout.
